Staff presented survey results showing regional mechanic starting wages and ranges — examples included Ashland (~$27/hr), Iron (~$31.50/hr) and Lincoln (starting at $25.66/hr) — and noted local pay and benefits place Price County roughly in range but recruitment remains difficult. A staff speaker said some neighboring jurisdictions offer higher hourly pay while Price County’s benefits package (WRS retirement match and health insurance) offsets nominal wage differences.
