The Hardee County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing May 17–23, 2026 as National Public Works Week. Tom Pugh, president of the American Public Works Association Florida chapter, read the proclamation and described the role of public-works professionals in maintaining roads, water systems and other critical infrastructure.
