Developer introduces Sprouting Skies wind project to Iroquois County planning panel
Developer representative Matt McFarland told the planning committee the proposed Sprouting Skies Wind Farm covers over 70,000 acres and sought to build a working relationship with county staff ahead of permitting expected next year.

Matt McFarland, a presenter to the panel, introduced the Sprouting Skies Wind Farm and said the project footprint will be mostly west of I‑57, covering "over 70,000 acres now signed for the project." He told the committee the developer has been working with landowners for about a year-and-a-half and plans to begin permitting work next year, with later review by the county board followed by construction and operations.
