The Smith County Commissioners agreed at their Nov. 18 session to move forward with Rural ReDevelopment Group LLC and to plan a transfer of surplus county property for the purpose of housing. According to the minutes, the board "will move forward with Rural ReDevelopment Group LLC and plan to transfer the property ownership to them for the purpose of housing," and they set a public-comment deadline of Dec. 9, 2024 for community input on the proposal.
