A Roanoke County staff member described the minimum requirements to apply for a 911 operator position and directed prospective applicants to the county jobs page. "So the requirements to be a 9 1 1 operator are gonna be to be at least 18 years of age or older and to have a high school diploma or GED, have no criminal record, and be able to type 25 words a minute or more," the staff member said.
