County floodplain manager: staff 'does not take exception' to variance above FEMA elevation
Queen Anne's County floodplain manager John Kling testified that the property is in flood zone AE, County FPE is 7 ft (vs FEMA 5 ft), and staff 'does not take exception' to the applicant's proposal since it remains above FEMA minimum elevation and includes mitigation like piers and vents.

John Kling, the county's Certified Floodplain Manager, presented the Department of Public Works report and described the property (Map 57, Parcel 0314) as located in flood zone AE with a County Flood Protection Elevation of 7 feet. Kling explained that FEMA's minimum elevation for the site is 5 feet and that the applicant proposes protection above FEMA's 5-foot minimum.
