The council held a series of recognitions during the meeting. Mayor J. J. Galvan proclaimed May 17–23, 2026 as National Public Works Week, thanking Public Works staff for infrastructure work and noting a traffic-signal project that received an award to be presented in San Diego. Anna Gutierrez and Juan Manuel Cabrera accepted on behalf of Public Works and described recent earthquake-response and infrastructure repairs.
