The Florence mayor and board voted unanimously (4–0, 1 absent) to adopt an amendment to the city's Animal Control Ordinance on Aug. 4, 2026; the motion was made by Alderman Brian Grantham and seconded by Alderman John Banks.

The Florence mayor and board adopted an ordinance amending the city's Animal Control Ordinance during their Aug. 4, 2026 meeting. Alderman Brian Grantham moved to adopt the ordinance and Alderman John Banks seconded; the motion carried with Banks, Grantham, Martin and Sistrunk voting aye and Alderman Mason Herrin absent.
