Maddie Thompson, acting executive director of the State Workforce Board, and Emily Persky, workforce strategy and planning manager, introduced the board's role and four priorities: implementing a 'workforce Pell' expansion for select short‑term programs, stronger industry engagement, system integration across state agencies, and performance measurement tied to employment and earnings. Thompson said the board voted last week to approve its 2027 legislative agenda and that the Student Achievement Council would be the administrative 'front door' for Workforce Pell eligibility.
