Chief Assistant Prosecutor Chris Anderson told commissioners the office's open caseload rose to 7,687 cases and described resource strains from trial preparation. "At the end of last month, we had another increase in cases. We're up to 7,687 open cases," Anderson said, adding the office handled 339 new referrals and nearly 740 hearings last month; he said trial-preparation work pulled multiple attorneys off other duties.
