The presenters spent a substantial portion of the workshop on fieldcraft and sound technique, advising attendees on mic distance, windscreens and minimizing handling noise. "A windscreen is really critical," one presenter said, and they recommended that handheld mics be held 4–6 inches below and off to the side of the mouth to reduce plosives and reduce subject discomfort.
