Commission recommends township board consider moratorium on large energy and data facilities

The Planning & Zoning Commission voted 6-1 to recommend that the township board facilitate an opportunity for the township attorney to establish a moratorium on battery storage plants, data centers, wind farms and solar farms. The recommendation now goes to the township board for action.

Commissioner Josh Lynch moved on June 8 that the township board be asked to facilitate an attorney-driven moratorium on large-scale energy and data projects including battery storage plants, data centers, wind farms and solar farms. Commissioner Jason Bowers seconded the motion; the minutes record the motion carried 6-1.
