Board reactivated a Senior Engineering Technician slot, eliminated one Engineering Technician slot, and approved adding two Patrol Lieutenant positions to replace two Sergeant positions in the Sheriff's Office (vote 4-1, Commissioner Jerry Rapp opposed). The board denied increasing a Veterans clerical position to full time.

The Douglas County Board on Aug. 18 approved several staffing changes for 2027 and immediate implementation. The board reactivated the Senior Engineering Technician position (slot #13046) and eliminated one Engineering Technician slot, effective Jan. 2, 2027. Commissioners also approved the addition of two Patrol Lieutenant positions in the Sheriff's Office to replace two Sergeant positions; the motion passed with a 4–1 vote (Commissioner Jerry Rapp recorded as opposed).
