County officials told residents the county’s valuation growth outpaced statutory growth caps imposed by the state, limiting how much additional property-tax revenue the county can collect. Chair (S2) said actual growth for the general levy was roughly 5.93%, but the state’s limitation for that levy is 2%; for the rural basic, actual growth was about 6.79% and the limitation described in the hearing is 3%.
