Middletown weighs hauling options as sole-source sorting limits flexibility

Council members pressed staff about alternate disposal and sorting options after learning Southington is the only local facility willing to manually sort green and orange bags for the program. Staff said Southington currently provides sole-source sorting for the program and that if the council suspends the bag model, the city will put hauling out to a competitive bid.
