A registered sanitarian presented a detailed overview of county rabies procedures, quarantine periods and intake processing for animal-bite and wildlife exposures. The sanitarian said the county follows Wisconsin guidance for quarantine and laboratory submission and described the typical quarantine lengths: 10 days for most vaccinated owned animals, 10 days in an approved isolation facility for unvaccinated owned animals, 60 days for vaccinated animals exposed to potentially rabid wildlife (with recommended booster), and 180 days for unvaccinated animals exposed to unvaccinated animals.
