The Franklin County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution imposing a temporary moratorium on special-use permits for data centers in unincorporated Franklin County through Dec. 31, 2028, to allow updates to the county comprehensive plan and evaluation of renewable-energy and siting rules.

The Franklin County Board of County Commissioners voted on Sept. 2 to impose a temporary moratorium on applications, permits and construction of any special-use permits for data centers and related activities in unincorporated Franklin County through Dec. 31, 2028. The motion carried following a second and affirmative responses from the commissioners.
