Board approves current Secure Rural Schools allocation for Crook County

Jul 25, 2026

The board approved sending the state's SRS allocation form with the county's existing split — 85% Title 1, 8% Title 2 and 7% Title 3 — after a short presentation from the finance director on deadlines and fiscal differences between allocation options.

The full story

Christina, the county finance director, told the board the county must select a method to receive and allocate Secure Rural Schools (SRS) funds and that the SRS allocation would deliver substantially more revenue to the county than the 19/08 rolling-average option. She summarized the county’s 2023 election of splits and the practical differences, saying the 19/08 rolling average would be about "$51,000 a year to the county versus the SRS allocation, which is about $1,100,000 to the county." Christina told commissioners the form had to be returned to the state that day.
