Hamlin County terminates SD DOT agreement; highway superintendent flags equipment needs

The board authorized termination of Agreement No. 718727 with SD DOT effective June 1, 2026 (vote 3–2). Highway Superintendent Bryan Pedersen reported equipment repairs, a motor grader part cost of about $3,400, and discussed options for a 2027 Mack truck (approx. $160,000 plus ~$75,000 equipment).

The Hamlin County Board of Commissioners authorized terminating Agreement Number 718727 with the South Dakota Department of Transportation effective June 1, 2026, after the highway superintendent told the board the change relates to a turning lane for County Line Dairy and that no funds under the agreement were obligated.
