The Massachusetts Senate voted to adopt amendment 624 to factor municipal school bus transportation costs and geographic size into the Chapter 70 education funding formula. Senator Dylan A. Fernandez said some districts receive no competitive bids for transportation and that a recent inspector general report found many districts receive only one or zero bids; he also offered a local example: "In Plymouth, they spend $11,000,000 a year for school bus transportation." The amendment passed after discussion and a roll call.
