Smith County commissioners review multiple road, bridge and equipment issues
Commissioners and Road & Bridge staff reviewed culvert, bridge and pothole repairs across Smith County, discussed blade and truck repairs and planned fall projects including C Road north of Kensington. Staff reported some dirt-road work held up after recent rains and an AA Road repair was being done the same day.

At a regular session on Aug. 24, 2026, the Smith County Commissioners heard a detailed operations update from Road & Bridge staff about maintenance across the county. Chair Kurt Ifland and Road & Bridge Supervisor Travis Story identified specific needs including a culvert on AA Road north of 150 Road, a bridge on 110 Road between A Road and B Road, and a hole on L Road two blocks north of Highway 9 near Gaylord. Story told the board crews had worked on dirt roads in the southern part of the county and that the rebuilt dirt roads "held up with the rains," according to the minutes.
