Commissioners for Smith County on Jan. 5 asked Road & Bridge staff to identify three to four major projects for 2026, singling out L Rd (north of Hwy 36), C Rd and Y Rd as early candidates. Commissioner Jim Gwennap directed the crew to ‘‘identify 3-4 large projects for 2026’’ and challenged blade operators to ‘‘take initiative and get the driveways passable for pickups and trailers.’’
