Board approves Travel Nevada grant application with $3,000 county match; one commissioner objects

Esmeralda County agreed to let its visitor-center director apply for a Travel Nevada Rural Marketing Grant (requesting $6,000) with up to $3,000 county match; Commissioner Rachel Holt voted against the motion, saying she wanted to see the final application before approving the match.

The board on Feb. 3 authorized Natalie Colunga, who oversees the Goldfield visitor center, to apply for Travel Nevada's Rural Marketing Grant for FY27 and approved up to $3,000 in county participation as a match for a $6,000 application. Colunga said the proposal would fund print ads and postcards and that some of the county's match could be provided as in-kind services.
