County denies Camp Messi rezoning amid traffic, buffer and zoning concerns

Michael French, owner of the property at 5875 North Messick Road, and his attorney, Jim Milliken, presented a rezoning request intended to enable a large private campground near Summit Lake. French said the property has been in his family for 48 years and described plans to address security, drainage and lighting; he said Summit Lake drew more than 350,000 visitors last year and that a premium campground could meet unmet demand.
