Planning commission recommends renaming subdivision and requires sidewalks as a condition

Jun 4, 2026

The commission recommended approval to rename the subdivision (formerly Reach/Reed) after staff confirmed plat comments were addressed; the city said sidewalks, water and sewer taps are required and noted a pending grant may reimburse some sidewalk costs. The item advances to city council on June 16 for final approval.

Steven Reed and Marilyn Reed presented the final plat for S26.03, asking to rename the subdivision to avoid a county duplicate name. City staff said the plat comments have been accommodated but reminded the owners that city code requires sidewalks and infrastructure (water and sewer taps) for plats under section 4 9 7 a. "So the sidewalk requirement is on the subdivider," staff said, and added the city has received a grant that would make the owners eligible for reimbursement of some sidewalk costs once the contract is signed.
