Officials say Ambler Road planning this winter, pilot construction next spring
At the White House event, administration officials said planning for the 211-mile Ambler Road will take place this winter and that construction would begin next spring with a pilot single-lane gravel segment, followed by phased expansion; ownership is expected to include state, federal and Alaska Native corporate interests and operate as a toll road.

During a press exchange at the White House signing, reporters pressed for a construction timeline for the Ambler Road. "We would expect that construction would begin, next spring with planning throughout this winter," Doug Burgum said, adding that the road would be built in phases starting as a pilot single-lane gravel road that would later be expanded.
