The Escambia County Planning Board on Sept. 1 accepted a small-scale future land use amendment (SSA 2026-01) to change a 21.48-acre parcel near Bankhead Drive from Mixed Use Suburban to Agricultural Residential. Staff and the applicant said the request implements the county's savings clause to restore prior rural-residential entitlements lost when countywide zoning changes were adopted in 2015. "The amendment to AR is not anticipated to create any capacity issue," staff said, noting the change reduces theoretical density from 25 dwelling units per acre to one unit per four acres.
