Pastor outlines Lifewise Academy release-time proposal as board waits on state bills

A pastor representing Lifeline Church said Lifewise Academy — a release-time religious instruction program — has completed six of ten implementation steps and awaits board approval; board members said they will draft policy only after state legislation (SB104, HB445) and regulations are final.

Lee, who identified himself as the pastor of Lifeline Church, presented Lifewise Academy, a proposed release-time religious instruction program that he said began in 2019 and has ramped up with multiple churches willing to provide staffing and financing. He told the board, "We're on actually step 6 right now, which is the approval of the board," and said they have "more than enough signatures" to proceed.
