Robbinsdale district approves five-year agreement with USI for property and liability coverage

The Robbinsdale Public School District board voted on Jan. 5 to approve administrations recommendation to switch the districts property and liability insurance broker to USI Insurance Services LLC under a five-year flat-fee arrangement. Administration said the proposal would secure a $70,000 annual flat fee for targeted risk management services and potential long-term premium improvements.

CFO Kristin Hoheisel briefed the board on the selection, saying the USI proposal would lock in a five-year rate and provide a targeted risk management program intended to limit exposures and ultimately reduce premium costs. "They would provide the same service for 70,000, dollars for a flat fee of 5 years," Hoheisel said. Directors asked about contract review cadence and whether the district could terminate if service expectations were not met; administration said the work would be examined annually and could be reassessed if necessary.

After questions and discussion, the board voted by roll call to approve the USI proposal; the motion passed and administration will implement the contract and related vendor onboarding.
