The full story

The Waverly Township Board on Jan. 2 advanced a planning-commission draft of a residential noise ordinance and voted to remove the R‑3 zoning designation from the draft language, a procedural change the board said would narrow the ordinance to certain residential areas. Supervisor Tony Millek said the draft sets nighttime limits at 50 decibels (10 p.m.–7 a.m.) and daytime limits at 70 decibels (7 a.m.–10 p.m.), and that without an ordinance "if we do nothing, the police can’t act on any noise complaints." The board voted to remove R‑3 and add Ordinance 2025‑1; after a roll call the motion passed 4–1 when Trustee Tom Fleetwood rescinded an initial abstention and voted yes.
