Neighbors raise water, privacy and tree‑buffer concerns at Bellingham ZBA hearing

During public comment at the Sept. 3 hearing, nearby residents pressed the board on water supply, the timing and height of buffer plantings, grading effects and the proximity of new buildings to existing backyards; the board and applicant agreed to strengthened landscaping and maintenance conditions.

Several nearby residents told the Zoning Board of Appeals they were worried about visibility, grading and water impacts from the proposed 58‑unit development during the Sept. 3 public hearing. Gary Gubot, who identified himself with his address, told the board neighbors had not received in‑person site visits and pressed the developer on proposed tree heights and grading impacts, saying neighbors would "lose" privacy and that new plantings could take years to provide screening.
