Kansas Route 66 group asks Cherokee County to back Rainbow Bridge restoration with ARPA funds

Members of the Kansas Route 66 Association requested county support to apply for an 80/20 Kansas Historical Society matching grant for Rainbow Bridge restoration. The board authorized up to $112,500 in ARPA funds for the project; the motion passed unanimously.

Machelle Smith and Aaron Perry of the Kansas Route 66 Association asked the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners to apply for an 80/20 matching grant from the Kansas Historical Society to fund restoration work on the Rainbow Bridge. The association described a $100,000 project scope and said the grant would reimburse 80% of eligible costs if awarded.
