AutoZone sign variance approved for Commerce Boulevard site

The board approved a dimensional variance for an AutoZone wall sign at 320 Commerce Boulevard, allowing the applicant's proposed gross area (listed in filings as 182.7 sq ft); township staff noted channel-letter measurements will reduce the effective area.

Melissa Price, representing Jones Sign and AutoZone, asked the board to approve a larger wall sign than the 32-square-foot maximum normally allowed in the SC district. Price said the proposed 182.7-square-foot gross area is consistent with larger tenant signs in the same shopping center and presented elevations showing the proposed 6-foot-6-inch sign.
