Staff and commissioners reviewed recent outreach about pedestrian and bicycle improvements along Route 40 from the Aberdeen Train Station toward the Hayden Bridge. Staff said the county received funding for design — not yet construction — of a shared pedestrian and bicycle path along Route 40 and that the corridor presents several engineering challenges, including flooding at Beardsall Road and frequent driveway crossings that complicate continuous sidewalks or shared‑use path alignment.
