Historian announces marker dedication; board hears tree concerns and cleanup fee changes

Historian Jason Parkman announced an April 14 historical marker dedication; Councilor Blumer reported a digitization grant and volunteers’ cleanup work; Councilor Platten raised concern about a dead ash tree in Jordan Rural Cemetery; Clerk Danielle Karlik said cleanup permits will cost $15 per trip (up to six trips) from May through August.

Historian Jason Parkman told the board he is planning a historical marker dedication on April 14 at 6:00 p.m. on South Main Street (J&T Car Care) and is finishing up last year’s grant projects to digitize newspapers for NYS Historic Newspapers. Councilor Doug Blumer thanked Parkman for securing a third-year grant to continue newspaper digitization and noted that, with the new marker, the town now has 25 historical markers.
