Board approves NextEra battery storage conditional-use permit despite resident concerns

The Smithville Board of Aldermen approved bill number 3121-26, granting a conditional-use permit to NextEra Energy for a battery energy storage facility. Alderman Atkins moved to approve the bill for second reading; the motion was seconded and the clerk recorded the roll call in favor, carried 5-0.
