County road department staff described the timeline for work on County Road 30: crews installed a base and first chip-seal layer last fall but colder-than-ideal temperatures caused some peeling; crews followed with a second layer and additional work this summer. The superintendent said the crew replaced a corroded 6-foot culvert and that, because newly filled ground needs traffic to recompact, crews delayed paving the area to allow settlement before applying a final surface.
