At public hearing the board considered Ordinance 2026-014, establishing a temporary moratorium on medium‑scale and large‑scale data center development applications. County counsel said the ordinance added a definition of medium‑scale data centers and adjusted megawatt thresholds using the senate staff analysis as guidance; the moratorium is intended to prevent discretionary approvals that could raise electricity, water or environmental concerns while staff undertakes a study.
