The Chair described the 2022 federal prosecution of George Peterson, a small licensed firearm dealer who kept an old suppressor in a safe at home. The Chair said Peterson was sentenced to two years in federal prison and called the outcome "abhorrent," urging DOJ to reverse prosecutions brought under the older enforcement regime.
