County approves change orders after additional deterioration found in parking ramps

Staff told the board that surveys uncovered unexpected deterioration under ramp coatings; change orders were approved to repair concrete, rebar and brackets and are intended to extend the ramps' life by roughly 10 years.

Facilities staff explained that once traffic coatings were removed from the Government Services Center and 3rd Street parking ramps, additional concrete and rebar deterioration was discovered that required supplementary repairs. Staff said a restoration plan from Northland Consulting Engineers guided the work and that the ramps — now about 43 years old — should gain roughly a decade of additional life from the repairs.
