Historical society seeks small county increase to support preservation and programming

The Pipestone County Historical Society asked commissioners for a 3% funding increase (about $1,650) to support maintenance of five historic properties, a newspaper‑digitization project, and a conditions assessment for a downtown sandstone building damaged this summer. A representative of the Pipestone County Historical Society told commissioners the group is seeking a modest 3% increase in county funding to continue building repairs, museum programming, digitization and outreach. The society said it received a $177,000 Clean Water Land and Legacy grant to repoint exterior walls on the Ferris Grama Block and reported that the State Historic Preservation Office approved construction documents this summer.
