District to resume lead testing after state revises reporting threshold to 5 ppb

Aug 28, 2026

Facilities staff paused lead‑testing after a state notice that initially suggested a 0 ppb threshold; the state clarified a 5 ppb reporting level and the district will resume scheduled testing this fall, following state guidance.

Facilities Director Mike Rohrbach told the facilities committee the state initially indicated a change to a zero parts‑per‑billion reporting threshold for lead in drinking water, which the district could not implement given testing limitations. The state subsequently clarified its guidance and set the reporting limit at 5 ppb; Rohrbach said the district paused testing temporarily while seeking clarification and will resume tests this fall under the updated guidance. “So we will be starting our lead testing again... sometime this fall,” he said.
