The Plainview ISD Board of Trustees unanimously adopted an amendment to the student handbook intended to reduce routine screen time in classrooms and to emphasize in-person, teacher-led instruction. Assistant superintendent-level staff argued the change is meant to ensure students "learn with the computer, not from the computer," and proposed modest daily caps by grade band (for example, pre-K: about 10–15 minutes; grades 1–4: about 15–20 minutes), with allowances for required keyboarding practice and state assessment preparation.
