Residents and historical‑society members pressed the town board to prioritize an engineering study to determine what building upgrades are necessary before pursuing museum expansion. Patricia (S1) said the town cannot move forward with any addition until the building is brought up to code and cited past county correspondence noting the existing construction exceeded allowances: "We have an email from the county from '20, '26 that says...the existing construction of the building is already larger than it's allowed on your current New York State Building Code."
