Safety coordinator seeks policy review, training certification and equipment replacements

Madison County Risk & Safety Coordinator recommended County Attorney review of an updated safety manual, proposed certifying the coordinator to deliver no-contact active-shooter training from Reflex Spray, and recommended replacing shelter-in-place bags and AEDs for several county vehicles and facilities.

Nick Ramirez, the county’s Risk & Safety Coordinator, presented a multi-item update on Aug. 31 asking the board to review proposed changes to the county safety manual and to approve next steps on training and equipment purchases. Ramirez said he has worked with Human Resources and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to revise the manual and Commissioner William Todd recommended the County Attorney review the proposed updates.
