Contractor: Courthouse project making steady progress, elevator footing to be poured soon

Alec LaBelle of Jackson Contractor Group told the Madison County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 31 that work on the Madison County Courthouse Rehabilitation and Addition is proceeding as planned. "The elevator footing will be poured soon," LaBelle said, and he reported that drainage work and the road portion of the project are nearly finished.

LaBelle noted that subdrainage for the safety suspenders remains an outstanding item that will need to be addressed later in the schedule. Commissioners William A. Todd, Duke W. Gilman and Ron E. Nye discussed project timing and coordination with the Town of Virginia City; the minutes record that Roger Williams of the town "was very helpful in exercising all valves, etc." The contractor said concrete pouring will continue over the next several weeks and that helical piers have been completed.
