Pasco commissioners continue Chancey/US‑301 comprehensive plan amendment amid traffic concerns

Planning staff presented a proposed future‑land‑use change to allow higher residential density near Chancey Road and US‑301; residents raised traffic and safety concerns and the applicant offered roadway and pedestrian improvements. The board agreed to continue the item to allow for re‑advertising and the attendance of a full board.

Staff presented P46, a comprehensive plan map amendment to change a portion of a roughly 18.6‑acre parcel from RES‑9 to RES‑24 to allow higher density residential development. Staff said the site sits in the airport influence area and that subsequent rezoning, site plans and height reviews would have to meet airport and land‑development code standards. The presentation included comparisons of existing nearby mobile‑home densities and the proposed project density.
