Local advisory board announces free Overdose Awareness Day event with Narcan distribution
Alpine County Behavioral Health Advisory Board and community volunteers will host an International Overdose Awareness Day event Aug. 31 at Markleyville Library Park offering free Narcan, live music and resources for people affected by overdose and loss.

Sarah Daniel, representing the Alpine County Behavioral Health Advisory Board, told supervisors the county will mark International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31 with a free event at Markleyville Library Park featuring live music, speakers and community resources. "There'll also be free Narcan available," Daniel said, and organizers said speakers who have been affected by overdose loss will share their experiences.
