Allen County requests cloud and cost quotes as IT capital needs rise
County staff told commissioners that server hardware costs are increasing and discussed moving more services to the cloud; Commissioners asked staff to seek quotes, prioritize repairs over a full upgrade, and work with vendor Starfish on an option through the end of October.

County IT staff presented capital requests on July 15 and told the board that server costs are rising as data centers buy additional hardware. The minutes report discussion of moving servers to the cloud to avoid future hardware purchases, but Chief IT staff member Brian Mauk told the board he did not believe moving all servers to the cloud was feasible because of high operational costs.
