Spence Mountain projects hit milestones: fuels reduction, trail expansion and accessibility work continue

Public Works reported 40 acres of fuel reduction, three new trail miles this year at a $100,000 cost, bringing the system to 61 of a planned 70 miles, and estimated about 9,200 annual visits with nearly $900,000 in visitor spending.

Jeremy Morris and Drew Honzel updated the board on recent work at Spence Mountain, including fuels reduction and trail development. They said crews completed about 40 acres of fuels reduction and mastication along roughly 3 miles of roads, with additional brushing contributed by community partners.
